Aaron is home

Family and Friends,
Aaron was transported by ambulance from Shadyside hospital to our home yesterday evening. We elected a transport because he is more comfortable in a reclined position as well as the ice that could have been on our steps.  Thanks to our dads and my brother, our steps were fairly ice free!  Once he was settled at home, two hospice nurses came to the house to help me organize all the supplies and paperwork that has invaded our home as well as give me a 2 hour crash course in how to work his feeding tube, administer medications through the tube, and a refresher on how to work his PCA pump.  Aaron was anxious about coming home but he did really well last night and seems to be more settled. I was able to continue his feedings through the night as well as give him his medications this morning. We have been able to have some wonderful time with friends and family who have come in to see Aaron
A nurse will come by the house every day unless we tell them otherwise. They have also graciously set up therapeutic massage for Aaron and body mechanics training for me. The body mechanics training will allow me to know how to avoid injuries while helping him in and out of bed, changing linens, etc.
Please continue to pray for our family. The hospice nurse reiterated to me that the prognosis and time we have been given are in agreement with the decline she has seen (she was his home care nurse before he was admitted on 12/26). Aaron is at peace because he knows he will see his Lord and Savior soon but anxious about the process over the next couple weeks. Continue to pray for Ben. He is doing well and seems to be overwhelmed only by the amount of people in our little townhouse. I am in great need of prayer for perseverance. It has been a long, trying two years and the most difficult part of this journey is yet to come.
Thank you for your prayers.

Love,
Jenny

P.S. Pictures of Ben always make things a little easier on the heart.

  3. Hello Jennifer,

My name is Lisa Bertin-Queena and I'm the Director of Special Events at Give Kids The World Village in Kissimmee Florida and I oversee the Gingerbread Run event. We recently received your very generous donation in Aaron's memory and I just wanted to reach out to you to personally thank you so much for this gift. I can't even begin to imagine what you and your family have been through, and we are all so very sorry for your loss. We truly appreciate you thinking of us and choosing our organization to support. If you are planning to join us again for this year's Gingerbread Run, please let me know. We're looking for a former wish family to speak at our event about the Village, and if that is something you would be comfortable with, we'd love for your to share Aaron's story.
Thank you again and god bless you and your family.
